Abstract
This research paper examines global experiences in applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to metropolitan transportation systems. It analyzes various AI applications, their impacts on efficiency, sustainability, and safety, and the challenges encountered in their implementation. Given serious challenges such as traffic congestion and pollution in metropolises like Tehran, the use of AI can help improve traffic management and reduce accidents. The paper explores different methods, including data collection and analysis, optimization of traffic lights, and accident prediction. It also addresses challenges such as the need for strong infrastructure, privacy concerns, and cybersecurity issues. Finally, it offers suggestions for future research, including the development of models, integration with emerging technologies, and the design of effective policies to manage social and ethical challenges.
